Richard Harold Moe was born October 1, 1935, in Algona, son of Ralph and Frances (Davis) Moe. He grew up in Algona and attended St. Cecelia's Catholic School. He served in the Navy from 1954 to 1958 being stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Dick married Marlis Barber on December 15, 1958, at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, Algona.
Dick attended Barber College in Sioux City and had a barbershop on North Dodge Street from 1968 until 1974. He then obtained his AA Degree from Iowa Lakes and worked as a courier for Purolater, Upshur Labatories and then North Iowa Mercy Hospital Lab until retiring in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.
Richard H. Moe died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at his residence in Algona at the age of 68.
He is survived by his wife Marlis of Algona; four children, Mark Moe of Marshall, MN, Michael Moe and his wife Lori, North Scituate, RI, Lindsey Moe and his wife Janelle, Algona, and Tracey Rusch and her husband Michael, Whittemore; nine grandchildren, Kirk Moe and his wife Jill, Eric Moe, Amanda Nunnelly and her husband Joe, Alissa, Jordann and Aaron Moe, and Joshua, Amber, and Heather Rusch; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Moe; one sister...[more]

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jane Stein and Shirley Mongar; and one brother, Thomas Moe.
