Doris B. McEvoy

Doris Beverly McEvoy was born August 13, 1919, in Mandan, North Dakota, the daughter of Roy and Edna Galloway Hogan. She grew up in rural Mandan and attended school through the eighth grade. Her mother had died when she was three years old so after her schooling she stayed at home to work. On October 9, 1937, Doris was united in marriage to Clement Joseph McEvoy in Mandan, North Dakota. After their marriage the couple lived in North Dakota before moving to Burlington, Iowa, in 1942, where Doris worked at the Defense Plant. Clement went to work for Moorman Feeds and the job brought them to Algona in 1951. They moved to Clear Lake upon retirement in 1976, and later moved to Green Valley, Arizona, before returning to Algona in 1994. Doris enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was a member of St. Cecelia Parish, past member of 4-H, CD of A and the Hospital Auxiliary. Doris died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Communities in Algona at the age of 85.
