Mary Weydert

Mary Susan Weydert was born March 17, 1913, in St. Joseph, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph and Catherine (Lenners) Fisch. At a young age the family moved to the St. Benedict area where she attended school. On May 29, 1934, Mary was united in marriage to Mathias Weydert at St. Benedict, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed near Livermore until 1953, when they moved to a farm northwest of Algona. Mary worked at the Colonial Motel in Algona for 15 years while also helping on the farm. Matt and Mary retired from farming in 1973, but continued living on the farm until 1978, when they moved into Algona. Mary was a member of the St. Cecelia Parish and in the past, when she was still able had helped with New Dimension. She enjoyed dancing, music, flowers and working in her garden, but most of all loved spending time with and helping her family and friends. Mary died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at the Algona Manor Care Center. She was 93.
