re he graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1984. Paul moved to the Washington, D.C., area upon graduation and remained there for many years before moving to Dallas to be closer to family.
In a family of big, brash personalities, Paul was perhaps the biggest of all. He loved a great meal, a beautiful suit, a bottle of wine, and a flashy car. Sharing a meal with him was one of life's great pleasures, whether it was burgers and fries or oysters and foie gras, he made it an occasion. He had a wicked, sharp sense of humor and the loudest laugh in any room. You never had to drag an opinion out of himhe always made it known. He made his career in fine dining, working for some of the best chefs in D.C. and Dallas. This is where he perfected the "Paul Charm"an ability to appease the trickiest of customersno doubt, the dimples and fantastic smile helped. Much to the chagrin of his siblings, his mother frequently declared him "my most beautiful baby."
An avowed city guy, Paul took great pride in fixing up tiny apartments, living in walkable neighborhoods, and never hanging on to too much stuff. He relished reading trashy novels and watching old movies. His beloved cat, Felix, brought him great joy for over 10 years and he never quite got over losing him. Paul will be remembered for both his big personality and his many small, thoughtful, loving acts of kindness and generosity toward his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Paul Michael Howard Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Vivian Helms Senior and William R. Senior, and his paternal grandparents, Stefana Golaszewski Szlemp and Jan Szlemp.
He is survived by his Mother, Linda Howard (Lockhart, TX, formerly of Cumberland, MD); his siblings, Susan Avey-Dauwalder and husband, Charles (Lockhart, TX); Lisa York and husband, Marc (Ft. Worth, TX); Christopher Howard and wife, Cindy (Taylor, TX); and Erin Valentine and husband, Jason (Arnold, MD); his nieces and nephews, Natasha Avey, Nicolas Avey, Dylan York, Jenna Howard, Zoey Howard, Abby Howard, Amelia Valentine, and Miles Valentine; and many dear, lifelong friends including Tom Stevens, Rick Ayala, Veronica Piconi Cull, Amy Goobic, and Reg Gustin.
