Sharon Eilene Thomas

Sharon Eilene Thomas, age 78, of Council Bluffs passed away October 11, 2017, at her residence in Council Bluffs, surrounded by her loving family following a brief bout with brain cancer. Sharon was born June 17, 1939, in Shambaugh, Iowa, to Charles Ira and Edith Helene (Phipps) Johnson. She attended Woodland Country School in Crescent, Iowa, and Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. As a devout Christian over the years Sharon attended First Christian Church and Faith Lutheran Church of Council Bluffs and Woodland Community Church of Crescent, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Catechism classes. After many years as a devoted wife, homemaker and mother, Sharon, returned to the workforce with the city of Council Bluffs Treasurer Department retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Sharon enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed the great outdoors participating in hunting, fishing and competitive archery with her husband Bill. However, she never did learn to water ski. her retirement years. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William; brother, Charles; sisters, Jacquelyn and Charlotte; parents, Charles and Edith. She is survived by her son, Scott (Felicia) Thomas, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Linda (Dennis) Haven, of Council Bluffs and Sherry (Bob) Dofner, of McClelland, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews. Visitation is 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m., on Monday, at the funeral home. Interment is in Memorial Park Cemetery.
