Judith Engle

Judith Engle, 74, of Baxter and formerly Mayor of Moravia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 16, 2017. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Judith was born on March 27, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Clarence and Hazel (Vancel) Upchurch. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from high school there. Following high school she attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. In 1978 she married Lee Engle in Limon, Colorado. The family relocated to Iowa where Judith began working for the Southern Iowa Economic Development Agency. She worked her way to Director and after 30 plus years retired. Judith was a member of the Unionville Eastern Star, and the Unionville American Legion Auxiliary. Reading was a love of Judith's so much she played an instrumental part in establishing Moravia's Library. She also loved spending time with her family, and working at SEIDA.
