John A. Goodman

Interment: East Lawn Cemetery ~ Algona, Iowa John Arthur Goodman was born February 3, 1926 in Algona, son of John C. and Courdula (Banscher) Goodman. He grew up near Algona attending school in Algona. John helped on the family farm prior to serving in the United States Marines during WWII. John was united in marriage to Mary Jean Hanson on March 28, 1951 in Algona. He worked for Taylor Implement as a mechanic until his retirement. John loved spending time with is grandchildren. He enjoyed boxing and watching the races. John was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 2541, Algona, and St. Cecelia Catholic Church. John Arthur Goodman died Friday, May 8, 2009 at his residence in Algona at the age of 83. He is survived by three children, Mike Goodman of Algona, Jeanne Horton and her husband Jerry of Orange Park, FL, and Jerrold Goodman and his wife Kathy of Alta; four grandchildren, Mike Goodman Jr. and his wife Viva of Emmetsburg, Kimberly Singleton of Hurst, TX, Miranda Goodman of St. Peter, Minnesota, and Kasey Goodman of Storm Lake; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
