Jack Anton Stumpf, age 83 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his residence. Jack was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 10, 1933 to the late Mathias and Rosa Kiefer Stumpf. He served in the United States Navy before teaching sixth grade social studies for thirty-one years. Jack enjoyed fishing, cheering for Chicago sports teams, and watching movies, as well as studying Civil War history and visiting Civil War Battlefields. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Thomas Stumpf; and sister, Helen Lachanski. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Farris Stumpf of Winchester; daughter, Lynn Marie Stumpf of Winchester; several nieces and nephews; and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Tom Mahler officiating.
