Obituary of Edward Alcock

Edward R. "Fast Eddie" Alcock, 73, of Iowa City, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at his home. 

A time of visitation will be held 4-7 pm Thursday, October 26th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. 

Edward Ralph Alcock was born June 4, 1944, in Bronx, New York; son of Rose and Frank Alcock.  On April 20, 1995 he married Janet Poggenpohl in Iowa City.  Before his retirement Edward worked as an elevator mechanic at the University of Iowa. Eddie was firm in his beliefs and took great pride in being a union member and will also be remembered as a loving, family man! 

His family includes his wife, Janet; daughters, April Kurovski (Daniel), Dawn Ketelsen (Jeff) and Holly Newville (Chris); Janet's son, Wade Baines (Melissa Cannon); brother, Frank Alcock (Linda) of Florida; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Johnathan Baines; sisters, Priscilla, Edith and Beverly.
