Birdie Hopewell
Birdie Mae Hopewell 86 of Elyria, passed away peaceful on October 23, 2017 in the Wesleyan Village following a short illness.
She was born in Cadiz, Kentucky and came to Elyria, Ohio in 1945 and was employed by the Elyria School System as a nurse assistant and a cook.
A charter member of True Vine P.B.C., Elyria; serving in the Senior Choir, and as a Church Nurse, and a former member of Mt Zion Baptist Church, Elyria and Mt. Nebo Baptist Primitive Church, Elyria.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Dora Ann Curry of Elyria and sons; Jim (Helen) Buffington Jr. and Eric Buffington both of Elyria, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a cousin Virginia Turner of Indiana.
Preceded in death by her parents; Coron "Tweet" and Dora Greenwade, daughter; Brenda Buffington.
Friends may call on Tues, October 31, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon. In the True Vine Baptist Church 737 18th Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035. Elder James Furcron, Officiating. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
