Donald R. Olson, 85, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice of Southwest Florida. Don was born on August 6, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Russell and Marge Olson. Donald served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Northern Illinois Gas Company in Naperville, Illinois He was a design engineer for 35 years. He retired in 1989 and moved to Englewood, Florida, where he resided for the past 28 years.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce (née Gaudet) Olson.
He is survived by: his sister Jackie Claussen and family, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, son David (Jim) Olson of Mountain Center, California, daughters Debbie Putnam of Athens, Alabama, Andy (Craig) Magee of Kerrville, Texas, Donna (Tommy) Lindstrom of Sugar Grove, Illinois, Denny (Gary) Dalton of Madison, Alabama, Brenda (Scott) Power of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Gail (Rob) Prentice, of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada, Lorie Thompson of Montgomery, Illinois, 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
