Michael Shane McCombs

Michael Shane McCombs, age 51 of Des Moines formerly of Boone, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at his home. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at the corner of Sixth and Marshall in Boone. Michael Shane McCombs was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 8, 1966, the son of Kerry and Dixie (Smith) McCombs. He graduated from Boone High School in Boone in 1984. Michael then attended DMACC. After DMACC, he began working at Iowa Paint, with his uncle, where he became interested in computer programing and writing code. In 2002, he was united in marriage to Lori Ruppe at a little country church in rural Des Moines, they later divorced. He worked as a Computer Programmer for Drake University for many years but recently began working construction. Michael enjoyed painting, golfing, entertaining his nieces and nephews and listening to U2. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Michael had a great gift for computer programming. Michael is survived by his mother, Dixie McCombs of Boone; brother, Kelly (Julie) McCombs of Boone; three sisters, Misty (Tab) Newman of Omaha, Nebraska, Keri (John) Miller of Parkville, Missouri and Kristi (Scott) Stuckey of Evansville, Indiana; two aunts, Sherly Robinson of Boone and Elaine (Bill) Mick of Topeka, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
