ere common. He loved hunting pheasants in the fall with his buddies and fishing for walleyes in Minnesota and Kansas. He had time-honored fishing methods and had a talent for telling fish stories. He and his family made trips to Minnesota to join relatives for fishing, card games, and fish fries. Later he enjoyed trips to Colorado to visit family and to fish for trout. In retirement Vernon and Gladys traveled to Coolidge, Arizona many years where they explored and met many friends. They hosted family gatherings at their home enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vern also enjoyed downtown morning coffee and lively conversation with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys (Irvine) Cacek; children Mary Gilley, Terri Watson, Edward (Therese) Cacek, Philip (Jill) Cacek and David Cacek; grandchildren Christopher Cacek, Andrea Cacek, Molly Watson, Joshua Blythe, and Nicholas Cacek; great grandchildren Aspen Winbigler, Elsa Winbigler, Ian Cacek, and Anthony Blythe. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Frank Cacek and Mary (Dvorak) Cacek, sister Anna Rosenberg, brothers, Eugene Cacek, Harry Cacek and Rudy Cacek; daughter-in-law Carol Cacek, step grandson Nathan Blythe and Terri's long-time partner Chuck Pyle.
