James D. Cox Douglas James D. Cox, 88, of Douglas, passed away at his home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born on May 9, 1929, in Pana, IL, to Loran and Freada (Kassman) Cox. He married Mary Payne on September 3, 1951. She preceded him in death on June 8, 1984. Surviving are one son, Roger (Lorraine) Cox; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Allison Cox; one brother, Larry; and numerous other relatives. He is preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service and a private entombment of James ashes will be held at Spring Hill Mausoleum in Nashville, Tennessee at a later date.
