r's degree at Michigan State, his Master's degree at the University of Minnesota and his Doctorate degree in Food Technology at Oregon State. In 1951, he married Margaret Elaine MacBeth in Michigan. After a long and varied career that took him around the United States and the world over the next 45 years, Balwant and Margaret retired to the family farm in Mount Vernon. Balwant loved his family and he loved the land. He was proud of his achievements, and firmly believed in the many opportunities that this country offered. He was always quick to offer advice to anyone who asked on how to take advantage of those opportunities. Balwant was a very devoted, 40 (plus) year member of the First Federated Church, in Lisbon, Iowa. In lieu of flowers and plants, a memorial fund for Balwant has been established at the First Federated Church, 115 N. Walnut, Lisbon, Iowa 52253.
