Bertha Watson

Bertha Kathryne Watson, 91, of Keokuk, died at 1:55 AM Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born May 24, 1912 in Warsaw, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Ethel Landers Kircherr. She married Richard Kenneth Watson on September 11, 1954 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2002. She had lived in the Warsaw and Keokuk area Most of her life. She had been employed in production at Shellor-Globe for 30 years, retiring in 1972. She had then worked in the dietary department at Keokuk Area Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1987. She also worked in concession stands at area ballparks. She was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk. She was an avid coin collector; doll collector; and quilt maker, having made 150 quilts. She also enjoyed ceramics and had operated her own ceramics shop. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Woods of Keokuk; three grandchildren, Shelley Travis of Warsaw, Illinois, Tim Woods and his wife, Lonna, of Davenport, Iowa and Todd Woods and his wife, Terrie, of Keokuk; six great-grandchildren, Zachary & Layton Travis of Warsaw, Illinois, Tyler, Cory & Austin Woods of Davenport, Iowa and Drake Woods of Ke...[more]
