Betty L. Johnson

Betty touched many lives over the years with her grace, humor, beauty and creative spirit. She was a gifted seamstress with a strong fashion sense and personal style. She loved music, was an avid sports fan, and demonstrated a strong faith. Betty was born on January 9th, 1926 in Felch, MI, the 12th of 13 children to Mary and Emil Isaacson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran Church. There, Betty grew up among the lakes and forests of the Upper Peninsula. She died on November 24, 2017. Betty completed business school in Milwaukee, WI where she met and married Harvey Johnson in 1948 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Harvey later became a Lutheran minister. They were happily married for 27 years with homes mainly in Seattle, MN and WI. Following her husband's death in 1975, Betty ventured back to Seattle to work for 22 years at the UW as an editor and office manager in the Psychology department. She loved the diverse community and made many friends. During this time, Betty traveled to Europe, visiting her parents' birthplace in Finland as well as Sweden and Norway with her son, John. Betty will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Cheryl "Cherie" Bradshaw (Hal), Karin "Kari" Alderson (Mike), her son, John Harvey Johnson, and her four grandchildren, Lara, Anna, Luke, and Siri, along with many others. Betty's family would like to thank the caregivers at the Hearthstone Health Center. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28th at 2:15 PM at the Hearthstone Chapel, 6720 E Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA. Another service will take place in McFarland, WI at a later time.
