Maurine Gunter Carlisle of Soso, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Center in Ellisville. Funeral services will be held at Springhill Baptist Church in Laurel at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. A burial service will follow at Union Line Cemetery in Jones County. Bro. Andy Miller and Bro. Chris Freeman will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 5:30pm until 8:00pm on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Springhill Baptist Church in Laurel where she was a long-time member. Maurine was a homemaker and a wonderful loving, caring mother. She also worked as a substitute teacher at West Jones High School in the 70's and 80's. She loved her family, friends, and church. Always a true southern hostess, anyone who visited her home, never left without being served a piece of her homemade pies or cake. As a seamstress, she spent many hours making dresses for her three daughters, when they were little girls. She loved her family dearly.

ril 26, 1933 in Jones County and married her sweetheart and the love of her life in March of 1949. They were married for 64 years.
​She was preceded in death by her husband Milton Carlisle, her father Lawrence Gunter (Earline), mother Myrl Gatewood (Troy), infant brother Burnell Gunter, and brother Jerry Gunter.
​Survivors include her three daughters Janice Walker and husband Robert (Bob) of Gautier, Clara Bynum and husband Marshall of Laurel, and Tammy Bynum and husband Jeffrey of Soso. Grandchildren are Amy Roberts (William) and Katie Wieniewitz (Taylor) all of Moss Point, Justin Bynum (Paulette) of Ellisville and Ross Bynum of Houston, Texas. Great grandchildren are Caroline and Carlisle Roberts, and Lane, Noah, and Sophie Wieniewitz. She is also survived by one sister Judy Price (James) of Alvin, Texas and David Valentine of Soso, who she loved like a son.
​Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great granddaughters.
​The family would like to thank Mary Jane Todd, Betty Valentine, David Valentine, and Charles Powell for all of the special love they have shown. They would also like to thank the staff of Magnolia Gardens and Southern Care Hospice for their care during her illness.
