Marjorie R. "Margie" Stahr, 91, of Evansdale, died at home, on Monday, December 4, 2017. Marjorie was born on July 13, 1926 in Hawkeye, daughter of Leonard & Alice (Grannemann) Hoepfner. She attended school in Hawkeye. Marjorie married Donald Albert Stahr on December 11, 1945 in Hawkeye, Iowa. He died November 1, 2017. Marjorie and her husband built, owned, and operated the Starr Motel in Waverly, Starr Lanes in Evansdale, and Margie's Waffle House and Restaurant for 22 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Survived by her daughter, Janice Bradfield of Evansdale; three grandchildren, Jamie (Jennifer) Bradfield of Indianola, Jeremy Bradfield of Evansdale, and Jill (Jeremy) Kelly of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren, Brody, Casey, Charlie and Chloe Kelly and Shore Bradfield; and three sisters, Marlys (Louie) Schwan of Sumner, Janet (Robert) Moore of Clarksville, TN, and Karen (Stephen) Martin of Minneapolis. Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lester & Wayne Hoepfner; two sisters, Ethelyn Kaeppel & Carol Hoepfner; and a son-in-law Wayne Bradfield.
