Verna Kelly

Verna Marie Kelly, 86, of Keokuk, died at 9:15 AM Saturday, November 11, 2006 at River Hills Village in Keokuk. Mrs. Kelly was born April 13, 1920 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Ella Peterson Hornung. She married Warren Kelly on August 5, 1938 in Kahoka, Missouri. She was a lifelong resident of the Keokuk area. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church of Keokuk and the Women's Society of the church and had served as a deacon. She was a member of the Carrie Reich Circle of King's Daughters. Mrs. Kelly was active in school functions while her children were in school. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed word search books and sewing. She is survived by two sons, Carl Kelly and his wife, Nancy of Branson, Missouri and Mike Kelly and his wife, Pam, of Keokuk; two daughters, Peggy Rader and her husband, Timothy, of Keokuk and Jean Montgomery and her husband, David, of Keokuk; eleven grandchildren, Carla Bradley and her husband, Jason; Patrick Kelly and his wife, Rebecca; Alaina, Brad, Mikki, and Katie Kelly; Lindy, Eric, and Tiffany Rader; Thomas and Molly Montgomery; five great grandchildren, Craijon and Jacie Bradley; Kerrig, Da...[more]

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; three sisters; and a brother. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. David Herron officiating. Burial followed at Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to United Presbyterian Church of Keokuk or to River Hills Village.
