Svétla Stepanek Goode Oct. 6, 1921 - Dec. 6, 2017 Svétla Goode, 96, of Crawfordsville, Ind. passed away Dec. 6. She previously resided in Carmel, Ind. She was born in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Josef Stepanek and Alzbeta Scherova Stepanek. She married Cecil L. Goode, U. S. Air Force, on Oct. 26, 1946 in Russelsheim, Germany. They moved to Long Island, NY in 1947 and she was very proud of earning her citizenship in 1950. She was 15 years old when she began her dancing career in Czechoslovakia as a ballerina. She performed with ballet troupes in several European countries. In New York she became an international star and performed in nightclubs, mainly in New York, Atlantic City, Miami and Chicago. Before retiring to Indiana, she performed burlesque in New York and other cities, a very popular art form at that time. She continued to dance in productions with the Indiana Association of Middle Eastern Teachers and Dancers (ISAMETD) until 2005. Club. She was inducted into the Burlesque Hall of Fame at its inception and was an Honorary Member of the USS Seawolf. Her son, Michael Goode and husband, Cecil Goode, preceded her in death. She is survived by niece, Margaret Ann Harvey, great-nieces Melanie Harvey Gramlin; Debra Harvey Marcy; Robin Harvey Harris; Tina Harvey Tyson; Jennifer Harvey; and great-nephew Donovan Jenkins. In the Czech Republic she is survived by: Jana Kreuzová; Oto Kreuz; Michaela Nebeská; Lenka Nebeská; Monika Kreuzová; Tomáš Nebeský; Zdeněk Čermák; Václav Kopecký; Jana Kopecká; Vendula Rautenkranc; Klára Kloučková; Vladimír Klouček; Růžena Kroupová; Kristýna Holubová; Daniela Horáková; Pavel Kejmar; Ivana Ševelová; and Michal Ševel. A celebration of her life will be on Friday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, 900 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel, IN (317) 846-2091. The service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park, 9250 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN.
