Irene Brotherton

Irene Maxine Brotherton, 81, of Keokuk, died at 9:03 AM Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa. Mrs. Brotherton was born June 27, 1925 in Clark County, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Froma Roberts Casey. She married Elmer F. Brotherton April 9, 1944 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2000. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was owner & manager of Brotherton Electric Company. In her earlier years she worked at Maid Rite and P.N. Hirsch Department Store. She enjoyed animals and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three sons: Russell Brotherton and his wife Teresa of Keokuk, Iowa; Lewis Brotherton and his wife Joyce of Polk City, Iowa; Jerry Brotherton and his wife Beverly of Keokuk, Iowa; Twelve grandchildren & Twenty one great grandchildren; Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her husband. Funeral services were Thursday, March 8, 2007 at M. at DeJong's Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Park, Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Keokuk Humane Society. [more]
