Phyllis A. Claiborne, 85, of Keokuk, died at 5:15 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at River Hills Village, in Keokuk, Iowa.
Mrs. Claiborne was born August 31, 1922, in Kearney, Nebraska, the daughter of Lewis W. and Ethel M. Fleming Fowler. She married Paul H. Claiborne on January 21, 1945, in Hastings, Nebraska. He survives.
She had been employed at Keokuk Municipal Waterworks for nine years and at Norman & Marion Law Office for six years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Tri-State Quilters and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Claiborne of Keokuk; three sons, David Claiborne of Marion, Iowa, Phillip Claiborne and his wife, Kacey, of Allen, Texas and Todd Claiborne of Estill Springs, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, Sarah, Gina, Ami and Jonathan Claiborne; one sister, Mary Lou Moore and her husband, Jack, of Edmund, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a daughter, Carol Jean, in 1960.
