Joseph McGhghy

Joseph Edward McGhghy, 81, of Argyle, Iowa, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. McGhghy was born September 8, 1926, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Louis and Madline Briley McGhghy. He married Catherine Hayden. She preceded him in death. He later married Beatrice Saltau Johnson. She also preceded him in death. He was a lifelong resident of Lee County. He was a production worker at Foote Mineral for 38 years. He served in the United States Navy during War World II. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a member of the Local #148, International Union of Operating Engineers. He liked horses and loved going to auctions. He is survived by his significant other, Jeanette Varner, of Argyle, Iowa; three sons, Jim Joe McGhghy of Argyle, Iowa, Donald Johnson of Hamilton, Illinois and Richard Johnson of Olympia, Washington; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins, including the Winn, Connors and Varner families.
