Vincent Mitchell

Vincent Michael Mitchell, 17, of Keokuk, died at 3:10 AM Monday, August 04, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa. Vincent was born June 28, 1991, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Jeff Richards and Tara Mitchell. He was a senior at Keokuk High School where he was an Honor Roll student. He loved restoring and painting cars. He and his grandfather were currently restoring a 1972 Chevy pickup. He enjoyed playing golf with his father and his brother, Zach, and helping people. He had just joined the National Guard and was looking forward to graduating. His best friend was his dog "Chopper". He is survived by his mother, Tara Hardman and her husband, Jerry Hardman III, of Keokuk; his father, Jeff Richards and Jennifer of Hamilton, Illinois; three brothers, Zachery Richards of Hamilton, Gregary Mitchell of Keokuk and Robert Hardman of Keokuk; his only sister, Destiny Hardman of Keokuk; maternal grandparents, Charles C. Simmons of Keokuk; aunts, Amy Briggs and her husband, Terry, of Keokuk and Amanda Pritchard of Pennsylvania; uncles, Scott Mitchell and Kasey of Keokuk and Robert Taylor of Pennsylvania; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandfather, Virgil R. Mitchell; paternal grandfather, Robert E. Simmons; maternal grandmother, Connie Sue Hardman; and a cousin, Cory Evans. His great grandmother, Orpha Humke, of Pennsylvania, also died Monday, August 4, 2008. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Freedom in Christ Church, 2020 Palean Street, Keokuk. Burial with Military Rites by the Iowa National Guard was in Hickory Grove Cemetery, north of Keokuk.
