Matthew Hastings

Matthew Junior Hastings, 78, died at 9:00 PM Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa. Mr. Hastings was born October 12, 1930, in Loraine, Illinois, the son of Matthew and Minnie Dooley Hastings. He married Betty Genece Haage on March 17, 1951 in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. He resided in the Keokuk and Illinois area all his life. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the ice plant in Keokuk, and Chanen's Auto Supply, Hancock Pellets and Cargill of Carthage, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing and bowling in his earlier years while his health permitted. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hastings of Keokuk, Iowa; two sisters: Dorothy Ann Kay of Keokuk, Iowa; Loretta Clark of Paxton, Illinois four brothers: Ronald Hastings and his wife, Wilma, of Destin, Florida; Donn Hastings and his wife, Sandy, of Jefferson City, Missouri Larry Hastings and his wife, Carol, of Bowen, Illinois; Charles Hastings and his wife, Tina, of East Moline, Illinois, several nieces and nephews.
