Melanie Jean Wright, 46, of Keokuk, died at 4:33 AM Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa. She was born on August 13, 1963 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Reva Lestina Wright. She lived in Keokuk, Iowa all her life. She graduated from Keokuk High School. She had been employed by Steel Castings as a production worker. She attended Evangelical Free Church. She loved the outdoors. rock hunting, mushroom hunting, camping, drawing and writing poems. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and was a very caring person. She is survived by daughter, Brittany Picton and her husband, Michael, of Keokuk, Iowa; son, Caleb Ver Dught of Keokuk, Iowa; grandson, Brayden Picton of Keokuk, Iowa; two sisters, Laura Hawkins and her husband, Mark, of Keokuk, Iowa; Frances Wright and friend Oron Henkle of Keokuk, Iowa; brother, Wesley Wright of Keokuk, Iowa; special friend, Bobby Johnson, of Keokuk, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Funeral service were Saturday, May 1, 2010 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev, Rob Sanders officiating.
