Dewey Clardy

Dewey O. Clardy Jr., 64, of Keokuk, died at 11:00 AM Sunday, July 11, 2010, at his home. Dewey was born May 11, 1946 in Maryland Heights, Missouri, the son of Dewey and Helen Horton Clardy. He married Sheila Haskins in October of 1971 in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. He lived thirty seven years in Keokuk, Iowa. He was employed by Affordable Patterns as a machinist, retiring after 47 years. He enjoyed car racing, baseball and softball. He collected turtle figurines, carousels, and pocket watches. He coached the Keokuk Little League and he was one of the original organizers of Keokuk Little League. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Clardy of Keokuk, Iowa; two sons, Matt Clardy of Keokuk, Iowa; Todd Haskins and his wife Jennifer of Warsaw, Illinois; one sister, Joyce Griffith and her husband Eddie of Warrenton, Missouri; two brothers, Dale Clardy and his wife Darlene of Mexico, Missouri; Wayne Clardy of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Sam Haskins, Isaiah Haskins, Adrianne Haskins; and special granddaughter, Jordyn Boyles; three sister-in-laws, Joann Malloy of Keokuk, Iowa; Ida Haskins of Keokuk,...[more]

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; four sisters; one brother-in-law, Jim Malloy; and mother-in-law, Syvilla Haskins. Celebration of his life was Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Ron Payne leading. Cremation rites will follow the celebration. Memorials may be made to the family.
