Pauline Coleman

Pauline Coleman, 86, died at 12:22 a.m. July 27, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Pauline was born September 14 1923, in Winchester IL, the daughter of Oscar and Gertrude Gilpin. The family moved to Keokuk IA where she was raised and attended Wells-Carey school. She worked at Huskamp Shoe Factory for a number of years. She married Frank Coleman in 1959. She then moved to Galesburg, IL. She worked for Galesburg Research Hospital retiring in 1973 to become a fulltime homemaker and caregiver. She was a den mother for the local Cub Scouts of America. She enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing on the banks of the Mississippi River and enjoying time with her family as much as possible. She is survived by 5 children, Janice Gutierrez of Bossier City, LA.; Patty (Richard) Kunkle of Knoxville, IL; Carol Schimmel of Galesburg, IL.; Greg Ferguson, of Galesburg, IL.; Julie Morris of Pond Creek, OK.; one brother Raymond (Odell) Gilpin of Hamilton, IL.; six grandchildren, Richard Jr.,Randy, Aaron, Maria, Calesta, Alanna; eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Coleman, six brothers William Gilpin, Frank Gilpin, George Gilpin, Leonard Gilpin, James Gilpin, and Albert Rooney, two sisters Pearl (Gilpin) Mann and Leona (Gilpin) Seidler, and also a "special friend" Donald Hoopes. Graveside services were Friday, July 30, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
