Penny Hale

Penny Sue "Mortimer" Hale, 56, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away at 7:40 a.m., August 9, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born on August 7, 1954, in Keokuk, the daughter of Laroy "Jack" and Sharon Varner Mortimer. She was engaged to Howard Braddock. She graduated from Keokuk High School. She lived most of her life in Keokuk with living some of her years in Toledo, Ohio. She loved to play cards, bingo, crocheting and loved her grandchildren. She was great telling ghost stories. She was the second of nine children. For a short period of time in her life she drove a semi and she really loved and enjoyed driving anytime. She is survived by her daughter, Renea Glenn of Keokuk, Iowa; son, Nathan Mortimer and his wife Christy of Ft. She was preceded in death by her mother, material grandparents and paternal grandparents. Funeral services were Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at DeJong's Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Burial followed at Hickory Grove, Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials have been established.
