Jack L. Mann, 73, of Keokuk, died at 12:54 AM Sunday, August 29, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on July 2, 1937 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Horace F. and Pansy E. Lanam Mann. He first married Juanita Moore and then later married Janet Mitchell on June 25, 1987 in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. He was a life long resident of Keokuk, Iowa. He worked for Burlington Northern as a switchman retiring after forty years. He was a member of the Saint Paul United Church of Christ. He enjoyed his yard and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed cooking and baking. Jack and Janet portrayed Mr. & Mrs. Santa Clause for twenty-five years and appeared in the first Keokuk lighted Christmas parade. He loved ice cream and sometimes would eat his ice cream dessert before his meal. He loved being in the sun and spending time at Christmas in Florida. But most important were his grandchildren. nzie and Kyle Petty who make their home with Jack & Janet and Troy (Megan) Mann of Keokuk; two great granddaughters, Mazie and McKala Mann; seven sisters, Caroline (Kenneth) Howell, Judy (Mike) Grogan, Mary (Gerald) Fink, Nita (Donnie) Fetch, Glenda (Jerry) Hardman, Alvenia (Bill) Meyers, and Deloris Stinson; two brothers, Larry Mann and Gilbert (Sharon) Mann of Phoenix, Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. His body has been cremated. Memorial service were Friday, September 3, 2010 at Saint Paul United Church of Christ with Rev. John Tyler officiating. Memorials may be made to the Saint Paul United Church of Christ.
