Francis W. Delaney, 92 of Keokuk died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 6:03 am at home in the same house where he was born. He was born on March 10, 1918 son to Frank & Alice Flynn Delaney in Keokuk. Francis was employed as a union member for 43 years for Hubinger Co. and later Heintz. He graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1936. Francis married Mary Ellen Wilkens on June 1, 1943 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo, IL. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and was a charter member of McNamara's Band. Francis and his wife Mary spent part of 25 winters at the Island House Condominiums on North Padre Island near Corpus Christi, TX where they made many lifelong friends with other winter Texans. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Francis is survived by his wife Mary of Keokuk; four children, Frank (Ann) Delaney of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary Lynn (Don) Walters of Ft. milie) Blindt, Rob (Monica) Blindt, Melissa (Josh) Plate, Colleen (Steve) Etka, Ryan Delaney, Shannon Delaney, Anya (Derek) Morales and Chris Delaney; fourteen great grandchildren, Skyler, Brendan, Jarrett, Lane, Ethan, Briella, Joel, Ciana, Allison, Kyle, Ellie, Emmary, Delaney and Quinn; and one sister, Mary Helen Blankenship of Keokuk. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Monday, February 28 at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Visitation is on Sunday after 3 pm with family meeting with friends from 6 to 8 and there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7:30 pm at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center located on Concert Street. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic Church, Keokuk Catholic Schools, or Lee County Hospice.
