DONALD "DUKE" W. MARTIN

Donald W. "Duke" Martin, age 78, of Big Lake, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.Born on May 10, 1934 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Donald and Mildred (Hartman) Martin-Baker. On June 4, 1955 he married Alice (Harrison) Martin at North Highlands Church of Christ, Fort Wayne.He worked as a machinist for 40 years with Kunkle Valve in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1994.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and sports, especially his Chicago Cubs, Colts and Indiana basketball. Survivors include his wife, Alice Martin of Big Lake; sons, Chris (Anna) Martin and Andy (Anna) Martin both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Diana (Danny) Allen of Columbia City; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, William "Bill" (Janet) Martin of Big Lake and 4 half sisters, Carla, Sue, Wendy and Cindy.He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
