Barbara Lou Hursey, age 79, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 3:42 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on March 11, 1934 at her grandmother's home in Allen County, IN, she was the daughter of Raymond and Pauline Marie (Schwalm) Brumbaugh. She was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1952. On July 19, 1952 she married Robert E. Hursey in Columbia City. She was a homemaker, full time loving wife, mother and grandmother, she also worked at Indiana Communications until her retirement in 1996. She attended Collins United Methodist Church. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, finding bargains at garage sales and crocheting in addition to keeping up with the Chicago Cubs, naming deals on the Price is Right and playing a competitive game of Yahtzee. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert E. Hursey of Columbia City; 6 children, Donna J. (Robert W.) Schroeder, Cynthia A. (Dennis L.) Judd, of Columbia City, Donald E. (Laura A.) ) Hursey of Warsaw; 1 brother, Roger (Toni Lewis) Brumbaugh of Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Richard Brumbaugh, Jane Seitzinger, Sandra Anderson and Karen Booth. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 2-8 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, May 3, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Priest, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Hursey's memory to Collins United Methodist Church.
