ROBERT J. DEMONEY
Robert J. DeMoney, age 93, of San Jose, CA and formerly a lifetime Columbia City resident passed away at 9:35 a.m., Monday July 29, 2013 at Glorian Manor, San Jose, CA.Born on August 7, 1919 in Columbia City, he was the son of Jesse Allen and Effie Evelyn(Lawrence)DeMoney. Bob began working for his fathers funeral home, J.A. DeMoney Funeral Home at the age of 10.He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1937.In 1938 at age 17, he graduated from mortuary schooland then attended Indiana University, where he completed his formal education.He worked as a funeral director in Philadelphia and in Indianapolis before finally joining his father again in 1942. On June 9, 1946, he married Virginia F. "Ginnie" Harrison Hosler at Columbia City Trinity Methodist Church.Bob took over his fathers funeral home and retired from DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home in 1997.He was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church and ministered to so many members by transporting them to medical appointments. Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor David Arnold officiating.
