Elaine Hesting
Elaine M. Hesting, 72, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her home.Born on January 24, 1942 in Winston, CT, she was the daughter of Claude Brot and Alice (LaFountain) Harrington, Sr. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, Lafayette with the Class of 1960. On June 18, 1960, she married Marvin R. Hesting. They made their home in rural Whitley County for the last 53 years. She was a Teacher's Assistant with Whitley County Consolidated School, retiring in 1999. She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and the Rosary Sodality. She also was a former member of the Home Demonstration Club. Elaine enjoyed tending to her flowers and garden, decorating cakes and doing crafts. Most of all, she loved being with her grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 4 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 9989 S State Road 9, Columbia City with Father Dale Bauman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Nix Settlement.
