Ruth A. Schaper

Ruth A. (Edsall) Schaper, 73, of Columbia City, passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015. Born Aug. 31, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Schone) Edsall. Ruth married Theodore L. Schaper on Sept. 8, 1979 and they were married 35 years. She worked at Roethele Lumber in the office. She loved to garden, play all sorts of card games, and bake lots of Christmas cookies. Surviving family members include children, Larry (Shari) Simpkins, Mary (Lance) Simpkins, William (Linda) Simpkins, Patrick (Maria) Simpkins and Ruth (Joel) Kimmel; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; step-children, Pat (Mary) Schaper, Tina (Tim) Longacre, Lisa (Phil) Richmond, Joni (David) Smith, Shari (Brian) Shively, Tim Schaper and Rob (Stacey) Schaper; 28 step-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Burns, Therese Miller Charlie Edsall, Pat Fox, Betty Hoy, David Edsall and Paul Edsall. She was also preceded in passing by her siblings, William Edsall, Charlene Edsall, Eva Edsall and Rose Edsall.
