Marian Jean Tucker

MADISON-Marian Jean (Moan) Tucker died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at the age of 91, at Oak Park Place in Madison. Marian was born on Feb. 8, 1926, in Madison to Ingvald and Amy (Anderson) Moan. After the death of her mother in 1927, Marian was raised by her grandmother, Anna Anderson, and later by her maternal aunt and Uncle, Mabel and Harold West in Brooklyn, WI. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1943, received her cosmetologist's license in 1944, and began working in the salon at the Yost's Department Store on State Street. Marian married the love of her life, Stanley F. "Stub" Tucker on June 18, 1946. They enjoyed 51 years of married life together raising their two sons on Madison's east side. After her husband's retirement in 1985, Marian chose to work seasonally at Swiss Colony's Madison office. She worked both day and night shifts for more than 15 years. Marian and Stub traveled extensively all over the United States with the Madison Eagles and she continued to enjoy traveling after Stub's death in 1997, traveling to Kentucky, Arizona, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Hawaii. ary #623 for more than 71 years. She spent many years of service to the Auxiliary and held many of the line offices including Auxiliary President in 1962 and 1963. She enjoyed many outings with the Eagles Past Presidents Club and was always ready to polka and party at the many social events. She was a dedicated member of the Auxiliary's Ritual Team and competed for many years in both State and National Ritual competitions. She was inducted into the Wisconsin State Eagles Hall of Fame in 1994. An awesome cake baker and decorator, she provided wedding, anniversary, and some the most amazing birthday and special occasion cakes for friends and family throughout the years. She also had a real passion for bowling and bowled at the Eagles Lanes, Casino Lanes, and later at Dream Lanes bowling many 200 games and 500 series in addition to winning many league championships and had all of the pins, patches, trophies, and awards to prove it. She loved bowling in tournaments and worked tirelessly during many of the City, State, and Eagles tournaments. Marian was always a huge support for both her immediate and her extended family and loved spending time with her "kids", her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Stub; her son, Stanley; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Tucker. She is survived by her sister, Helen (Mel) Wenzel; her son, Gary H. Tucker; daughter-in-law, Linnea Tucker; grandchildren, Robin (Brian) Ingraham and Gary S. (Becky) Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Max Ingraham and Auburn Tucker; as well as many of her half-siblings, nieces, nephews, and their children. A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Avenue, Madison at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, with visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
