Helen Geneva Roberts Polen, age 91, of Laurel, passed away peacefully at Northview Care Center on Friday, December 29, 2017. Visitation is scheduled at Memory Chapel for Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. with Funeral Services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Gardens. The Reverend Ken Regan, Mrs. Polen's son-in-law, will officiate.

Mrs. Polen, affectionately known as Granny, was born in Avera, Mississippi, on January 13, 1926 to William W. Roberts and Josephine Rigney Roberts. She met the love of her life, Bill Polen, in May of 1944 while he was stationed at Camp Van Dorn, and they married there in the chapel on July 3, 1944. Mr. Polen passed away on April 22, 2015, just before their 71st Wedding Anniversary.

She is survived by daughter Sarah Polen Boody (Robert) of Calimesa, California; daughter-in-law Pam Burleson Polen of Hixon, Tennessee; son L. Ronald Polen (Ann) of Laurel; daughter Katrina Polen Regan (Ken) of Laurel; and daughter Marcia Polen Easterwood of Laurel. In addition, she is survived by 15 Grandchildren: Tony Boody (Staci), Daniel Boody (Cindy), Amy Polen Stallings (Seth), Brad Jones (Hilary), Adam Polen, Andrew Polen, Mandy Polen Robison (Robert), Melody Polen Read (Grahame), Neil Polen (Dani), Heather Christian (Jason), Joel Miller (Shae), Jennifer Miller, Katelyn Regan, Matt Easterwood; and 21 Great Grandchildren: Natalie Boody, Jake Boody, Jayden Boody, Sadie Boody, Thatcher Boody, Gage Hildago, Luke Stallings, Reed Stallings, Sophie Polen, Addison Jones, Olivia Jones, Madison Robison, Morgan Robison, Meredith Robison, Emily Anne Read, Margaret Helen Read, Anna Kate Christian, Kara Christian, Louise Polen, Emma Miller, Judah Carr.

As the last of her generation, "Aunt Helen" was the matriarch of the family and was dearly loved by a host of nieces and nephews.

"Ms. Helen" is also survived by her Angel on Earth, Sabrina Jones; a special friend, Geneva Chisolm, and her "Other Daughter," Leisa Estes.

Granny loved The Atlanta Braves, The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. She was a dedicated member of Heritage Heights Baptist Church and loved The Lord with all of her heart.

Pall bearers are Joel Miller, Matt Easterwood, Neil Polen, Grahame Read, Jason Christian and Brandon Easterwood. Honorary pall bearers are Adam Polen, Andrew Polen, Seth Stallings, Brad Jones, Robert Boody, Daniel Boody, Robert Robison and Judge Billy Joe Landrum.
