Eli LaVerne Opstvedt

Eli LaVerne Opstvedt Jr., 76 died on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at his Nevada residence.  Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating.  Eli was born on November 25, 1931 in rural Nevada to Eli L. and Martha L. (Wierson) Opstvedt, Sr.  He was a graduate of McCallsburg High School.  On June 10, 1956, Eli married Carolyn "Sue" Hill in Roland.  He was a truck driver.  After his retirement, Eli was employed at Burke Marketing in Nevada.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Eli is survived by a son, Brian (Sandy) Opstvedt of Story City; 2 daughters, Mary (Adam) Bolton of Clayton, NC and Martha (Jon) Blount of Mesquite, TX; 10 grandchildren; 3 step grandsons; and 2 great grandchildren. Eli was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sue on May 2, 2005, a sister Lorene Mason, and an infant brother in 1928.
