Juanita Christina Parker

Juanita Christina Parker, 82, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at her home in Ames.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 9 at the Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating.  Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.   Juanita was born on December 28, 1925, in rural Nevada to Walter and Alvira (Elliott) Larson.  She was a graduate of East High School in Des Moines.  On August 29, 1947, Juanita married Richard Parker in Nevada.  During their marriage, they resided in Cedar Falls, Wauwatosa, WI, Glenview, IL and moved to Ames in 1993.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.  She enjoyed taking care of her family and home, traveling with her husband, preparing for holidays, gardening and shopping.  She was a bright light in her family's lives.  Juanita was a member of the Collegiate United Methodist Church-Wesley Foundation in Ames.    Juanita is survived by her husband Richard Parker of Ames; a son, Randall (Pat) Parker of Ames; a daughter, Tamara (Kelly) Ward of Davidsonville MD; 3 grandchildren, Alexander and Benjamin Ward and Courtney (Brandon) Dunmire; a great grandson, Damian ...[more]
