yed playing volleyball while she attended Smith Green Community Schools but decided not to become a cheerleader after she fell in love with David J. Noe. The two met at a church function at "The Root Cellar" and knew right away they were meant for each other. The 120 lb. David got the courage to ask Evelyn's dad, Jerry for permission to marry his daughter. The two would go on to be married on March 24, 1974 in Churubusco. As a teenager she was a waitress at Marty J's in Churubusco. Evelyn took some college classes in nursing while she was an aid at Miller's Merry Manner in Columbia City and also worked at BRC and the Quonset in rural Whitley County before becoming a homemaker. Evelyn enjoyed bowling and playing air hockey with her husband. She may have been a very loving lady, but she loved to win and was very competitive. As her daughters became old enough, she also enjoyed taking them roller skating. Family meant a lot to her and she loved Thanksgiving and Christmas because that brought her family together and she loved cooking for them. She was a great cook and baker. Her chicken dinners, pot roast, turkey, mashed potatoes and lasagna are just a few dishes that her family will miss along with David's favorite desert, raisin pie. She also had great homemade pizza, salsa and nachos. Evelyn enjoyed watching her Soap operas, Oprah, The Bold and The Beautiful and reading not only about the Amish and early pioneers, but also about Princess Diana and the Royal Family.
