Patrick James John Hogan, 65, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on January 6, 2018, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Illinois. Pat was born on December 31, 1952, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Philip and Eileen Berberet Hogan. On June 27, 1982, he was united in marriage to Roslyn Richmond in Edina, Missouri. She survives. He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. Pat graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in 1971 and Culver Stockton College in 1979. He later earned his Master's Degree from the University of Iowa in Special Education. He served his country during Vietnam. Pat entered the Air Force in 1971 and was stationed at R.A.F. Bentwaters, England, and San Vito dei Normanni Air Station in Brindisi, Italy. SSG Pat Hogan was discharged at March, Air Force base in Riverside, California in 1975. Pat was a member of the Church of All Saints and American Legion Post 41 where he served as Commander for more than 20 years. asketball. Pat was named Cardinal Stritch's athlete of the year in 1971. He played and coached American Legion Baseball. As an adult Pat coached numerous local teams including American Legion Baseball, YMCA youth basketball, Cardinal Stritch Lionettes basketball, Warsaw Wildcats basketball and Keokuk High School Chiefs Boys Basketball. During his tenure at Keokuk, the Chiefs went to state twice: winning 2nd and 3rd place. Pat is survived by his wife Roslyn Hogan of Keokuk, IA; three children Janeen Hotchkiss-Henderson of Washington, IL; Erin (Clint) Law of Rock Island, IL and Philip Hogan of Keokuk, IA; one grandson Harlen Henderson of Washington, IL; two sisters Susan (Mike) Mitchell of Missouri and Rebecca (Mark) Patterson of Keokuk, IA; one brother Lawrence "Jerry" Hogan of Keokuk, IA; numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Kathleen Hogan and Debra Hogan. A Celebration of his Life will be at 1:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at Wright Field House in Keokuk with Rev. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11, 2018 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert Street after 3:00 PM with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #41 or Operation Homefront.
