Mary Jane Ecklor, 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 6,2014 at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Interment will be at the Riverside cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Mary Ecklor was born April 26, 1931 to Cloid and Ila Mae(Jensen)Stinson of rural LeGrand, Ia. In 1934, after the death of her parents, she was adopted by Charles and Mary(Fleager)Kale of Beaman, Ia. where she was raised. On Oct.22,1950, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Leo Emerson, with whom she had 4 children. and loving, leaving an endearing legacy to be passed down. Mary worked as a nurse's aid for 26 years at the Marshalltown Manor Nursing Home (Southridge Nursing Home)where she brought a gentle hand and a warm smile to all the residents, many of whom she continued to visit long after her retirement from there. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Marshalltown, for many years and later became a member of New Hope Christian Church, Marshalltown. She and Don were part of the "Alive with New Hope" group, enjoying their golden years together. They loved to travel and camp, with their children in the early years and later with their grandchildren. Mary loved dancing, bowling, gardening and she was an avid animal lover and will be especially missed by her dog Dusty. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 49 years, Donald, her children: Beverly (Ronald )Rohde of Marshalltown, Diane (Sam) Moussalli of Ankeny, Daniel Lee(Delawn)Emerson of Marshalltown, Daniel Joe (Loretta) Ecklor of Cedar Rapids, Julie (Douglas) Weatherman of Marshalltown, Tammie (Richard) Casciato of Des Moines, Winona Logan of Des Moines and David (Bobbie) Ecklor of Lebanon, Missouri.
