John J. Harvey

John J. "Jack" Harvey, 85, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital on Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born on December 24, 1932 in Frankville, Iowa; the son of Faye and Lila Jones Harvey. John graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1951. He married Dolores J. Babbitt on June 20, 1951 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on February 24, 2013. John worked at Rath Packing Company for 28 years; and at Curt Craft Printing Co. for many years; he retired from Iowa Department of Transportation in December 1997. He and Dolores served as foster parents for many years, caring for hundreds of children, mainly newborn babies. John enjoyed time with his family and loved family gatherings. Survivors include five sons: Mike (Maureen) Harvey of Midlothian, TX, Jon (Donna) Harvey of Denver, IA, Dave Harvey of Waterloo, Tim (Donna) Harvey of Cedar Falls, and Ben (Cherice) Harvey of Houston, TX; two daughters, Cindy (Dave) McFarlin of Mantorville, MN and Lori (Mark) Iiams of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
