Evelyn B. Haack, 88, of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 at Genesis East, Davenport. Services in celebration of her life will be held at 11 am Monday, January 22nd at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2136 Brady St., Davenport with Pastor Ron Huber officiating. Her family will greet friends from 9 am until time of service. Burial will be in the Dysart (IA) City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting her family with these arrangements. Ms. Haack was born in 1929 in Vinton, Iowa to Arthur and Minnie Haack. She attended the University of Northern Iowa where she was member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She then earned her Masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Her last teaching position was at Eisenhower Elementary School, Davenport. She was a member of DARSPA, DEA, ISEA and the International Read Association, all for which she served as an officer. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Solo Stepper Square Dance Club. She was also a member of the Friendship Force and traveled extensively, including to Japan, Hawaii, New Zealand, Scotland, and Europe (five times). Her last major trip was to Germany with all of her siblings in 2012. She was a 55 year member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, active in the choir, book club, prayer chain and the WELCA Circle, of which she was a past president. Survivors include her sisters Esther Johns and Doris Haack; brother Leland (Loretta) Haack; brother-in-law Richard Poppler; nieces Carolyn (Bill) McConnell, Barbara Johns and Sonja (Tim) Rock; nephews Barrett (Jennifer) Poppler, Raffee (JoAnne) Johns, and David (Crissy) Haack; great-nieces Amelia, Amanda, Kennedy, Campbell and Karli; great-nephews Andrew, William, Riley, Griffin, Matthew, Danny, Matthew, and Chase, and cousin Terry Tams. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rose Marie Poppler, and brother-in-law Raffee Johns.
