Wayne Henry Brinkman

Wayne H. Brinkman, 68, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. Per Wayne's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Shih Tzu Rescue or the Dogs for the Deaf organizations. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting his family with these arrangements. Wayne was born February 22nd, 1949 to Carl and Florence Brinkman. He was raised near Big Rock, IA and graduated from Wheatland High School, Scott Community College, Clinton Community College and ICS. In December 1991, he married Ethel Harker-James. She preceded him in death in April 2013. He was a mechanical engineer for 29 years with Case New Holland Corporation from which he retired in 2003. In their retirement, he and Ethel moved to Sweetwater, TN and greatly enjoyed traveling the backroads of the county, state and country on their motorcycle. After the loss of his wife, Ethel, he moved back to Bettendorf, IA. He enjoyed going to various midget and sprint car races and learning to fly RC aircrafts with his grandson. forgot his roots and was blessed with the love of his parents and family. He served seven years with the Army Combat Engineers and three years with the Iowa Aviation Battalion. Survivors include his three children, Chanda (Nathan) Fredricksen of Bettendorf, IA, Dr. Mikala Brinkman of Galesburg, IL, and MSG Justin Brinkman (fiance, Kara Keller) of Arlington, VA; brother Jerry (Regina) Brinkman of New London, MO; nephew Jeffrey Brinkman of Rockford, IL; granddaughters Delaney and Piper; and grandsons Cormac and Ivan.
