Lucille Jones, 79, of Afton, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at her home in Afton.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Powers Funeral Home 612 N. Dodge in Afton. Pastor Jim Morris will officiate.
Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, south of Shannon City.
Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 26, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Powers Funeral Home in Afton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Afton Volunteer Fire Dept. or East Union Dollars for Scholars.

Lucille Jones, daughter of Loren Russell Woldruff and Vesta Irene (Stewart) Woldruff, was born on August 17, 1938 in Siam, Iowa. She graduated from Shannon City High School in 1957 as Valedictorian. After graduation Lucille studied at SWCC in Creston and also at Northwest Missouri State at Maryville, earning her teaching certificate.

two years, where she taught second and third grade at Richland Center Elementary. After moving to Creston, she then taught at Zion Elementary, east of Orient.
They then moved to Afton in 1971. Lucille was busy raising their family and in 1974 began working as secretary for the East Union Primary Elementary for 27 years, retiring in 2000.
Lucille was a member of the Afton United Methodist Church, and she volunteered her time and talents wherever they were needed. Her passions included gardening, taking care of her flowers, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Jones of Afton; a daughter, Jan (husband Randy) Pettit of Afton; and a son, Doug (wife Karen) Jones of Afton; three grandchildren, Alex (wife Taylor) Pettit, Sara Pettit, and Trevor Jones; one great-grandson, Blaine Pettit; her sister, Phyllis Buck of Creston; brother-in-law, Ted (wife Kate) Jones and sister-in-law, Marcia Jones, both of Shannon City.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Glee and Bernadine Jones; a brother at birth; two brothers-in-law, Richard Jones and Richard Buck; and a niece, Tiffani Braman.
