Laura Margaret Myers, 90, of Polk City, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the New Hope Methodist Church (4525 NW Beaver Ave, Des Moines, Iowa). A funeral will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Neil Cross officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Des Moines. Laura was born on October 19, 1927 in Hampton, Iowa to Henry and Hermina "Minnie" (Uilk) Muhlenbruch. She attended Hampton High School and graduated with the class of 1945. After graduation Laura attended AIB College in Des Moines. Laura then began working at the State House as a legal secretary. Laura married Guy Liggett on October 1, 1950 and the couple resided in Des Moines where they raised their family. In 1974 Guy passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease. On March 31, 1984 she married Dale Myers at the 1st Methodist Church in Des Moines. The couple resided in Liberty, Missouri until 2006 when they moved to Polk City, Iowa. Those left to cherish Laura's loving memory are her husband of 33 years Dale Myers of Polk City, IA; son Randy (Rebecca) Liggett of Waukee, IA; step-daughters Carla (Dennis) Davidson of West Des Moines, IA, and Karen (Tom) Cooper of West Des Moines, IA; grandson Jeffrey Liggett; step-grandchildren Kim (Brent) Knoll, Craig (Melanie) Davidson, and Jill (Mike) Baldwin; step great-grandchildren Josiah and Alayna Knoll, Brock and Tad Davidson, Taylor and Parker Baldwin; sisters Gertrude Muhlenbruch of Grimes, IA, and Karen (Harold) Mann of Urbandale, IA; nieces Brenda Mann, Rita Mann, and Nicole Mann. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, husband Guy Liggett, sister Alice Muhlenbruch, brother Robert Muhlenbruch, nephew Craig Mann, and step-great-granddaughter Sidney Davidson. Memorial contributions may be directed to the New Hope United Methodist Church in Laura's name.
