Mary L. Land

Mary L. Land, 84, of Montrose, IA, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Ft. Madison Hospital, Ft. Madison, Iowa. Mary was born on September 8, 1933, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Ida Harnagle Queisner. She was united in marriage to Melvin J. Land on March 8, 1989 in Montrose, Iowa. He survives. A lifelong resident of Montrose, Iowa and graduated from Montrose High School. Mary had worked for Shopko, Holiday Inn in Ft. Madison and Hardees in Keokuk, Iowa. She was a member of the Pulaski Mothers Club and part of a group of ladies whom they played cards. Mary enjoyed helping at Iowa Fowler Builder Watermelon Fest. Mary is survived by her husband Melvin Land of Montrose, Iowa, two sons: David (Connie) Heiser of Pulaski, Iowa and Fred Heiser of Urbandale, Iowa; three stepchildren: Bill Land, Steven (Denise) Land and Janice Van Ginkle; eight grandchildren: Kelli Husted, Missy Dean, Wray Fleming, Samantha Tira, Jennie Heiser, Jeremy Heiser, Reyna Cassimatis and Rileigh Cassimatis; five sisters: Anita (J.R.) She was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters: Amy, JoEllen and Cheryl sisters, Evelyn (Tony) Hull Lois (Joe) Dobson, June (Jim) Smith and Kathleen Mims. Celebration of Mary's life will be Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:30 AM at the River Front Landing in Montrose, Iowa with Rev. Preston Smith officiating. Family will meet with friends from 11:00 AM until time of services at the River Front Landing. Burial will be at a later date at Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Iowa. Memorial in her memory may be made to Lee County Hospice.
